Old Cobourg Jail

Its a closed jail that's over a century old that has been converted into a hotel, the cell walls are still in most of the rooms, how cool is that! If you are into paranormal or just history this is one of the best places to visit. There has been all kinds of phenomena reported at the jail and it truly held up to its reputation in M.I.A Paranormals investigation of the jail. We began in the hotel rooms upstairs on the second floor with multiple E.V.P sessions. Jason captured a voices saying "David don't go there. Im sorry." Perhaps it was a female spirit apologizing to a loved one through Jasons recorder and hopefully gave the spirit some peace in know its message has been heard. The team was joined by public enthusiast of the paranormal who donated to the Northumberland Hospital to tag along on our investigation. We asked if the spirit like a guest named Ashley amazing we captured a reply on our digital recorder saying "Very Pretty" more interesting was later Ashley reported pressure pushing down on her hand we snapped still photographs of her hand. We caught a clear illuminated orb rising up out of her effected hand. We tried communication using our spirit box for about 20 minutes receiving nothing but white noise. Moving into the attic the spirit box became quite active with voices many replying to the questions asked. Most interesting was a young females voice who introduced herself as Jemma. According to Ontario Genealogy  a 15 year old girl named Jemma Hibbard was held at the jail in the early 1900s if it is the Jemma we spoke to I do not know I would like a follow up to ask Jemmas last name if Hibbard this would prove to be some of the most conclusive paranormal evidence I have seen. Upon entering a crawlspace in the attic I stumbled into some more aggressive spirits who seemed to not like me in there space. The jail definitely contains more then comfortable rooms and rich history it houses inmates and employees who still haven't let go of the Old Cobourg Jail.

My first paranormal encounter to occur in life happened when I was 12-15 years old being 26 years now. The house I grew up in was very creepy and other family members telling me stories of the house made more creepy to me. The upstairs had two bedrooms in it, to me those to rooms were the most terrifying. The rooms would give me goosebumps, make my hair stand on end and give a general bad feeling but I never saw anything up there as my sisters 3 all had. My encounter happened in a room I was more comfortable in, the living room. I was up watching TV late on a Saturday it was around 2 am when a shadow of a head appeared on the cabinet under the TV. My first reaction was someone was in the door way of the kitchen where the light was coming from hence where the origin of the shadow and nothing was there. My second thought was "idiot it your own head" I debunked this theory when I realized I was wearing a hat and in the shadow I clearly saw hair. The shadow appeared and disappeared in all about 5 seconds, it happened once more and I have no explanation to this day. A couple house after the one in the last story my mother settled in a century country farm house. I was staying with her there, being 20-21 or so when my second experience happened. My room was the only on downstairs it was attached to the kitchen, my sister Beth had a small dog at the time. It was around 2 to 3 am when I heard the dog growling and barking just outside my bedroom door in the kitchen. I went out to investigate because the dog normally will bark once or twice at night but to continuously bark and growl this late like someone was knocking at the door I decided I should check it out and calm the dog down. I entered the kitchen it was lit by a night light so I could see fairly well. I saw the dog in the middle of the kitchen with his back arched hair standing up growling and barking into the dinning room which is to the right of me, I walked to the dog put my hand on his back then looked to see what he was barking at. There in front of the dining room window inline with the doorway i was looking through was a man. He was transparent but not so much the I could make out of detail of his clothes his face and it all had color. His hair was  shave, grey, his shirt was a light yellow button up collared shirt and he was wearing tan pants. The apparition didn't move at all just stood staring at me, I said "I'm not doing this." calmly and left back to my room where I stayed until morning when I left for work. I got home from work excited to tell my mom of what happened the night before. I entered the house and my mom was standing there waiting for me and says "So wanna tell me what happened last night?" This blew me away as I had not told ANYONE about my experience yet. I asked what she meant not wanting to spoil my story if she wasnt talking about what I was thinking. My mother goes "Here come with me I'll show you." So I follow her to the dining room over to the window in which I saw the full bodied apparition in front of and its punched in from the inside. The window had an inside pane of glass and an outside one, the window was broken as if someone punched a hole from the inside as the outside was unharmed and the broken glass fell between the two panes. I told my mom my story and shes an amazing mother so she believed me!


I did not want to believe in ghosts or spirits but when those two events happened to me a curiosity in me began to grow wanting to know what spirits or ghost are? and if they are real with undeniable proof. 

Oshawa Little Theatre Investigation March 15 2014

On March 15th 2014 M.I.A Paranormal investigated Oshawa Little Theatre for the second time. For me it would be my first time investigating the theatre as I was not a member of M.I.A during their first investigation. My first impressions of Oshawa Little Theatre was it is not "Little" by any means, also the building looked clean and pleasant from the exterior modern looking not like some of the older historic buildings I've investigated. We entered the building through the stage door which was great to enter right onto the stage area where you realize the true magic of the theater, the stage looking out of the seats along with the side balconies made the imagination run wild. How many people performed on this beautiful stage, how many people sat in the seats viewing their favorite plays or musicals? Although the building itself was built in the early 80s the history of the Oshawa Little Theatre Group goes much further back then the buildings birth, but who decided to root themselves in this theater? Could it be a theater lover who decided to spend the after life at the place they enjoyed themselves the most? Verna Conant was one of the Theatre Groups original founders. Verna's husband was Mayor of Oshawa and later was elected into Ottawa. Verna still was very much involved in the Oshawa Little Theatre Group even though being further from it, with this devotion to the group in life could she be just as dedicated in death? Using a spirit box we received the name Verna multiple times but being such a pillar of the theater could it be people she had worked with speaking her name as Jason asked if her name was Cara as Jason captured an EVP with Cara being spoken. Perhaps it wasn't Cara but instead Verna he caught? This evidence may help answer some questions of the after life such as visiting the places you love as a spirit, If this was indeed Verna it would seem she did not cross over to a heaven or hell but is indeed on earth in a higher plain of existence why didn't she cross? Did she have a choice? Can she still if she has not yet? She did not seem to be in pain or sad she seemed as though she knew where she was and she wanted to be there. This female entity "Cara" or "Verna" or whomever was not the only entity in the building though we have also had two different male spirits which raises more questions who are these men? It seems the more you look into the unknown the more you realize how little we really know about life after death.
